Movie and Series Line-up: The Croods + Arrow, plus new Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer.

Last Sunday, I opened up the Netflix app on my Surface and finally decided to sit down and watch The Croods. If you are a big cinephile or film junkie/fan or whatever you may call yourself, you know that this film is nominated for the Oscars for Best Animated Film of the Year along with Frozen, Despicable Me 2, The Wind Rises and Ernest & Celestine. To be quite honest, I was so excited to see this film, because of many reasons. 1) It is nominated for an Oscar 2) It's a DreamWorks film (How To Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, etc.) 3) Many good reviews 4) Pretty good cast.
GUYS... This movie made me cry from the beginning to the end. I'm not the crier type, but this movie was so wonderful, from its scenarios, to its quotes, and the father-daughter relationship was so strong, I mean it is just so touching I couldn't handle it. The romance with Guy and Eep was so mature and so sweet even though they were Cavemen in the time where the Earth was still forming itself. There were so many scenes I could discuss and babble on about.
1) Loved the father-daughter relationship: Eep and Grugg were so alike, I totally identify myself with her and my dad, lol. I guess that is why I cried a lot.
2) Grugg vs. Guy: how he became jealous of this more developed human being and wanted to have ideas for survival aside from being afraid and living in the darkness.
3) The concepts of light and darkness: How Guy and Eep were obsessed of capturing the sun. How he brought his torch and Eep was fascinated by it. I loved how they always longed for tomorrow.
4) Family and love: these two important concepts in our lives were so nicely portrayed here, how family and love can actually strengthen your soul to keep motivating you, to survive this harsh world.
5) Comedy genius: There were so many moments were I literally cried of laughter, because the quotes guys, you can check some tweets here, where I totally quote the movie.
I totally recommend this movie for you to see whenever you need a good laugh, a good heartfelt movie, and yes, I totally think this one deserves an Oscar nomination (even the Oscar itself). You already know it's on Netflix, and if you don't have an account, you can just buy the DVD on a near film store or watch it online on another site, or order it online, right? Nothing wrong with that.
Here's the trailer:

Now, about Arrow

If you don't know what Arrow is... it is a CW series based on the DC comics superhero called Green Arrow and his story. Wow, great description, right? Lol.

Anyway, I totally enjoy this show, because 1) I love superheroes 2) My best friend got me into it AND 3) My best friend got me into it. HAHAHA. I totally blame him for this, but yes. If you love superheroes, then you should totally watch this show, it will tear you to pieces. I say it isn't a masterpiece, but it is really a good series, so if you're into action and explosions and shooting arrows then this is the show for you. I am updated with it and I truly thank my friend for hooking me up with it. I'm talking about it, because my closest friends were totally mad at me, because I didn't watch the  latest episode up until last night, but come on, college sucks up my life. It is on a mini hiatus right now until February 26, because of the Winter Olympics, but only one more week to suffer guys. It is currently on the half of the second season, so if you want to check it out, the complete first season is on Netflix, and some recent episodes are on CW.com.

I really want the 26th to be here already. They need to do some explaining of the last episode. So I won't spoil anything, but here is a general trailer about the series:

I'll do a more in-depth post of my feelings toward the series, because this was merely a presentation for those of you who didn't know about Arrow, so always check my blog for more awesome recommendations.

I'm also including in this post the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, that Jimmy Kimmel presented last night in his tonight show and since I am a Marvel movies' fan, well I did have some expectations, but watch it and you can leave comments about what do you think of it. I still am going to see it when it comes to the movie theatres, but um, I don't know, I need another trailer to make up my mind.

Xoxo, Rachel.

Movie review: Endless Love (No spoilers, I promise).

I went out with one of my closest friends to watch Endless Love, and I was really scared about the outcome of us watching it. Even my mom warned me about Franco Zeffirelli's movie of the same name, which had a tragic ending, and I really hate romantic movies with a sad plot. The only thing I had in my mind was "Please don't be a movie I would regret watching." The only person I knew and that I loved about the movie was Alex Pettyfer. I knew a bit of his romantic side, because I've seen Beastly and I've also read the book of the same name, which I REALLY recommend, because it is sooooo good. The rest of the cast is totally new people I've seen for the first time, but they were good and they really complemented each other. Even though it is a movie full of clichés, guys FULL OF CLICHÉS, I really liked it. It surprised me, because I really hate those generic movies Hollywood makes for the sake of the holiday, which you know we are in February so couple love would be the important element during this time. There were a lot of favorite things among these: some shots of different scenes like the airport, the zoo scene and the last scene, which I won't spoil I promise for those of you who haven't seen it. THE SOUNDTRACK: it is lovely, I think I'll download it soon, because I liked a lot of songs featured in it and later I'll make a review of it. There's some element of surprise in the movie that will leave your mouth open for a while, but apart from that you won't regret spending your money in the cinema. In conclusion, if you're looking for another good romantic movie to watch, here's a good one to add on your list.

Weekly Obsessions:

Oi! How are you lovely people! And here are my favorite things of the week for you to consider listening-buying and check out, of course if you want to.

In music, I have for you quite a lot of favorites, and you must check them out!
First, I'll talk about Dirty South.
He's an Australian DJ; his dance electronic music is just so catchy and really lovely, I can't and you must listen to these songs below, which are my current favorites.

City of Dreams - Dirty South w/ Alesso and Ruben Haze
LOVEEEEE.

Until the End - Dirty South w/ Joe Gil (Music Video is so pretty and its love story)

Next, we have DVBBS, a Canadian duo, also DJ's, whom I'm going to see live March 22 in a musical event here in Puerto Rico along with Empire of the Sun as the main artist of this event, and I'm so pumped! I will also write a post about it when I go and I shall link you to it. So this duo is more hardcore electronic music, but it is obviously a club, festival mood setter which will make you jump endlessly whenever you listen to the song.

Here is my favorite, Tsunami:

GUYYYSSS, I also mentioned that I'm going to see Empire of the Sun live, an electronic-alternative band with really unique and genius songs, so I'll leave you with a couple of favorite songs, because I want you to fall in love with them as much as I do!

DNA - Empire of the Sun, Calvin Harris' remix.

Standing on the Shore - Empire  of the Sun (faveeeee)

Bought a new handbag: a gray with gold Steve Madden Bag (Honestly in love)

Bought some DVD's: Date Night, We Bought A Zoo (ALL TIME FAVORITE) and What's Your Number? (I forgot to include it on my all time romance films, but yes, Chris Evans, yum!)

Nylon Magazine, February 2014 featuring Vanessa Hudgens! Finally arrived!
One of the top fashion magazines right now, and the style this mag has is really awesome!

Also I'm obsessed with the soundtrack of Endless Love (2014), watched the movie yesterday and I'm numb with the good quality so posting here the playlist from 8tracks

Movie Recommendations: Valentine's Day Edition!

Bonjour! And Happy Valentine's to you lovely people out there! Well, my friends and I were having a conversation earlier this week about movies that should be vital to watch, and more if they are romantic, or romantic comedies, so I'm going to write a list of my all-time favorite romantic movies I'll recommend you to watch during the coming up Valentine's weekend!

Top Favorites:

Crazy, Stupid, Love
Reasons to watch: The cast is freaking perfect! Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Steve Carell, I mean who more do you need.
10 Things I Hate About You
Reasons to watch: Watch how Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt steal your heart. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie if you haven't had the chance.
Leap Year
Reasons to watch: Amy Adams quirky and funny side! And then the romance with Matthew Goode... if you love Irish men, you'll adore this film.
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
Reasons to watch: Period dramas, and if you love Jane Austen's masterpiece, a novel with the same name, you'll adore this movie. The scenography and photography in this movie are insane. Joe Wright is one of my favorite directors, and I love how the little details in his movies are the most important elements within the story of the film. He does it beautifully.
Roman Holiday
Reasons to watch: A CLASSIC! Gregory Peck and the immortal, Audrey Hepburn! A journalist who falls for the princess, a forbidden love that will capture your heart!
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Reasons to watch: THIS LOVE STORY, #NEVERFORGET, and the of course, oh so lovely Audrey Hepburn in the movie that made her the famous fashion icon.
Romantics Anonymous
Reasons to watch: A really cute French movie about these two really shy people who share a passionate love for chocolate and how they cope with their problem to interact with people through love.
Emma (1995)
Reasons to watch: If you like period dramas (again), you'll love this adaptation of the classic story, Emma by Jane Austen in where we get to see Gwyneth Paltrow portray a really fantastic role of Emma and the love story with Mr. Knightley, this is such a romantic and cliché movie, but you'll fall in love with it so bad.
Amelie
Reasons to watch: This is a really well known French romantic comedy starring Audrey Tatou. This movie is really quirky and fun to watch! I really need you to watch this movie please, if you haven't watched it.
The Proposal
Reasons to watch: Sandra Bullocks' and Ryan Reynolds's comedic genius + a love story, please this is a must watch. No more to say.
Love Actually
Reasons to watch: The cast is flawless, it is a British love/comedy/drama film with multiple stories that relate to one another, with the acting of Liam Neesom, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, and much more. Seriously, one of my top favorites.
Elizabethtown
Reasons to watch: Kirsten Dunst in my opinion, is the queen of romantic and quirky movies. Orlando Bloom is the protagonist of this story, but without Kirsten's character to spice up his life, we seriously don't have a love story. And yes, it is one of my favorite movies ever. It's pretty much about finding love, to be loved and to look for confidence kind of movie.
A Walk to Remember
Also a classic, Mandy Moore and Shane West's ultimate best couple ever! A true love's story in which the main character is diagnosed with cancer and she warns him to not fall in love with her, but of course he does. Perfect love story.
Silver Linings Playbook
Reasons to watch: This movie is just how love grew between these two people who are coping with troubles within and things that have happened in their life, that with each other's help, they find love. Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar winning performance along with Bradley Cooper's extraordinary portrayal really enamour you.
He's just not that into you
Reasons to watch: So many great actors in this movie, and the stories aren't all necessarily about love, but there are so many life lessons to take as advice. Favorite couple in the movie is Ginnifer Goodwin and Justin Long's characters.
Win a date with Tad Hamilton
Reasons to watch: Topher Grace's ability to make your heart melt. Topher and Kate Bosworth's chemistry is so sweet and charming, you can't resist. I love the scene where he confesses to her, but I won't spoil it for you, so must watch.
My Week with Marilyn
Reasons to watch: Eddie Redmayne's Colin that falls for Michelle William's Marilyn Monroe. You'll fall for him, because he loved Marilyn with this quiet passion and even though he's young, he really has this mature love for her. How he truly cared for Marilyn's well being. Just watch this movie, he is the romance in it.

Romantic Independent film favorites:

Lost in Translation
Reason to watch: Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray's chemistry and acting in this movie! I would watch this movie a hundred times and never get tired of it.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:
Reason to watch: Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet's chemistry is off the charts, and the plot of this story is so original and captivating, I fell in love right away! Mark Ruffalo and Kirsten Dunst are also in the film (two of my favorite actors).
The Giant Mechanical Man
Reasons to watch: THIS FILM. Jenna Fischer is one of my many favorite actresses, and in this indie film, the photography is orgasmic. The main couple is so adorable, it is about standing up for yourself and have confidence, to feel loved and to be loved. The romance is pretty realistic. A must watch.
Drinking Buddies
Reasons to watch: JAKE JOHNSON, okay and Olivia Wilde. This relationship is so immature, but so beautifully portrayed in this movie. I think this is the best summary, lol. You will see how this relationship is stuck in time, in which both of these people don't really see what they are feeling.
Safety Not Guaranteed
This movie isn't in my ultimate favorites, but it is worth a mention, because it is a unique love story, in where Aubrey Plaza just decides to believe in this guy who has been working on this time machine, where she just goes with the flow and falls for him. Pretty good! We see a different kinds of relationships and human phases in it, we can relate to any of these.

So comment below if you have any romantic film favorites, and enjoy this list that is only for you. Happy Valentine's day!

How to prevent chipped nails + more.

Hello there!
I think it was vital to make this post, because I found a couple of videos for me to prevent chipped nails. You know that it is frustrating to paint your nails and then for a while, a piece of the nail polish falls off... yes, I do get pretty pissed too, but there are simple ways to prevent this.

Just as simple as using a base coat, and then after applying the nail polish, we add the top coat. In the video, they use the Essie Nail Polish line, but I can assure you that any of your favorite nail polish line will do the same job. I personally use different nail polish brands, like Essie, O.P.I, Bettina, or Maybelline, and well, I would love to know which do you guys use for me to check out. There is also another video of the same Youtube channel, SignatureSeries, in where they also have this tutorial in how to apply nail polish smoothly and to not get nail polish on the skin of the corner of your nails.

I was real happy to have found these videos, because I really needed tutorials to inspire me in how to make my nails prettier and neat, and to also protect them from any damage. I also want to show you my favorite nail polish colors, and you can also comment below which colors I should try! From the thousands of colors I own, these are my top favorite:

Essie Nail Polish:
1. Sew Psyched
2. Where's My Chauffer
3. Russian Roulette
Bettina:
1. Vanity
2. Sand Blast
3. Berry Merry (Currently using and people loved it, and complimented my nails, because of this color)
Sephora by OPI:
1. Charge it!
Maybelline:
1. Onyx Rush (Black)

Nuevo Youtube Series, Los Que Se Quedaron + Review: Episode 1!

CAUTION! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Fact: I usually write in English, because you know it is the official language in this globalized world, but making exceptions since I actually speak Spanish, I'm from the lovely island of Puerto Rico and I should also write in Spanish... (I also speak French and Portuguese) *shows off her skills* Okay, so I'll stop now, because getting a bit annoying here right? Be sure to comment!

Weekly Obsessions!

Well, good day to you! Here is my first weekly obsessions post in where I will write each week, (obviously) about things that have caught my attention and that will hopefully inspire you if you need new recommendations in beauty/makeup/fashion, music or movies.

Firstly in music: Zedd's new single, Find You Featuring Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant.

So a fun fact about me it's that I really fell in love with electronic music, because of my uncle! He has showed me so many concerts and festivals, since then I've been kind of an EDM head too... (I can make a post of my favorite electronic/dance music artists for you soon) anyway, this new hit single is so refreshing along with his style, romantic and daring, I really like this song, I don't know what more to say about it. It reminds me of Clarity and Stay The Night (his most known songs) it is like a mixture of them, and with Matthew Koma as the main vocals, well yes this song is bound to be loved. Enjoy!

Okay, now for the beauty/makeup session... I bought Maybelline's the Falsies mascara and the Baby Lips lip balm! I'm in love, guys. The Falsies do what you want your eyelashes to do, look uber pretty and incredibly long! Same goes with the lip balm, because I really haven't been protecting my lips with anything, and it is really important so they don't get chapped and nasty looking, Baby Lips will do a flawless job protecting your lips all day.

You can find these in any drugstore.

You know that movies and music are the main thing in this blog, but I also watch Youtube series! This one, some of you may know of, or not, it's called Emma Approved. It's a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's novel of the same name, Emma. There have been multiple adaptations like Emma (1995) where Gwyneth Paltrow is the main lead, and also the famous spin off, Clueless. (I looove both of these movies and they are in Netflix! So if you haven't seen it, go right now and do it!) So, about Emma Approved well it is a really good series that I really enjoy! It returned from their two month hiatus and I'm excited to see how they pull of this really modern idea and plot of the classic novel.

Here's the video of the first episode:

Superbowl XLVIII Halftime Show: Bruno Mars + RHCP! Incredible!

Bruno Mars exceeded the expectations! His performance starting with a drum solo, with the songs Locked Out of Heaven, Treasure and Runaway Baby, with him showing his dance moves along with his band, it was a magnificent start. Later, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, they sang with maximum hyperness and put the audience to literally jump! As soon as they finished their collaboration, messages from active soldiers were shown dedicating The Way You Are. While Bruno was singing this song in the middle of the stadium, I sat watching with my mouth open, because Bruno Mars gave his all in that Halftime Show! Goosebumps everywhere! I was so proud at how amazing he executed his performance! One of the best Halftime Shows ever seen!

Here it is if you didn't catch the Halftime Show! (Credits to Just Jared & Youtube):

First post + Music Recommendation: the 1975

Hello! I am so darn happy, because I finally had the courage to start a blog of my own, and just talk endlessly about my loves: movies, music, and fashion or random things that have caught my attention. Well, my name is Rachel, and I have decided that this first post will be about my current obsession with the English, indie band, the 1975. I have been listening non-stop to their self-titled album for almost three weeks. I bumped accidentally to their album while creating a playlist on 8tracks with their song called "You".

The lyrics were so good, I had to immediately search for their album and download it. Obviously, their most known song is Chocolate, but tracks like Sex, Girls, You and Settle Down are my forever favorites. The whole track list is full of songs that have this indie, but fun feeling, that just simply seduce you to keep listening to it. I have seen multiple interviews in which the lead singer, Matthew Healey, said that their inspirations were mostly 80's music and that the songs can have this power of making you feel like you were in a John Hughes movie (Breakfast Club, Home Alone). So, if you haven't been able to listen to any of their songs, I shall leave you below some of my favorites!

Here's Settle Down (Plus, the video is fantastic.)

And Girls! The video is so colorful and they show their cute side.

I can also link you to concerts and more! Be sure to like this post and comment! Thank you!
